Detling to Westwell
I had a great sleep, maybe due to my new mattress. I got myself ready and had a few breakfast bars before taking the tent down. The day promised to be warm but not too hot and I headed out of the campsite and back down the hill to rejoin where I left the trail yesterday.
Heading over Jade’s Crossing I stopped at the Detling Stores for a cup of tea. Then walking out of Detling I took a path that headed up and was slightly overgrown before getting some good views at the top. Getting to White Horse Woods I left the NDW and headed through the wood as there was more to look at. Thurnham Castle being one of those things as well as great views.

From that point until Lenham it was a constant up and down. At some parts the trail was very overgrown. I took a 1 mile detour to get to Lenham, a lovely village. I had a nice sandwich at the cafe and headed back to the NDW. The route from this point was fairly uninspiring being a hard surface shared with cycles.

Eventually I headed up into some woods and then onwards to the campsite. I set up the tent and headed down to the Wheel Inn where I had the best Chilli Beef Salad. Uphill back to camp though, always the way.

Distance 17-18 miles
