Essex Man Does Walking

A walking journal of an Essex man

Shaking off the trail dust

Well it has been about 2 weeks since I finished the SDW and I thought it was about time to give the old leg muscles a stretch again. I needed a latch for the shed and decided to walk to B&Q rather than drive. It is out of town and I could reach it by going along the Prittlewell Brook and through Priory Park before heading up alongside the main road.

It was a pleasant day for it, not too hot with just enough wind to keep it fresh. The council was out cutting back the verges of the Prittlewell Brook track and there were a few but not too many people out and about. The Brook path ends up at Priory Park and I walked through this and went out the back gate and walked beside the main road up to Fossets Way.

After visiting B&Q I decided to head down towards the Kursaal and then along the seafront to get me back as it was a lovely day. The legs were aching by this point and I had forgotten to put my walking socks on. Something was rubbing the bottom of my foot and I discovered I had worn a hole in the socks I was wearing! I was surprised at hw much my legs ached just a couple of weeks from the SDW but I had walked at a faster pace and on pavements all the way.

Going to do the Canvey Loop next so this was good prep.
